Spanning 586,528 km² as Brazil's fourth-largest state, Minas Gerais, Brazil, features diverse ecotourism landscapes across its mountain ranges, divided between the Cerrado and Atlantic Forest biomes.

Among the Minas Gerais national parks, Serra da Canastra (197,810 ha) protects the source of the São Francisco River and the 186 m Casca d’Anta Waterfall, while Serra do Cipó and Caparaó National Park complete the list. Our Minas Gerais tours focus on two regions in the south of the state.

The Serra da Mantiqueira spans 500 km, with 60% in Minas Gerais within a 421,804-hectare protected area. Departing from Passa Quatro, our Serra Fina trekking covers 33.3 km across Pedra da Mina (2,798 m)—the state’s second-highest peak—and Pico dos Três Estados (2,665 m).

Situated farther east in the Zona da Mata region, the town of Lima Duarte (elevation 860 m) serves as the access point for Ibitipoca. Located close to Conceição do Ibitipoca, Ibitipoca State Park preserves 1,488 hectares filled with waterfalls, caves, and scenic trails. To ensure a quieter experience when hiking in Minas Gerais, plan a weekday visit—daily admission is capped at 300 visitors a day on weekdays compared to 800 on weekends.
