About the adventure

Are you a nature junkie who loves animals and taking pictures? Then this is the perfect experience for you! Our photo safari trip takes you to the heart of the Pantanal in Brazil – more precisely in the town of Porto Jofre, in the state of Mato Grosso – to capture breathtaking shots of the rich wildlife, with the almighty jaguar as the star of the show!

Recommended for both professional and amateur photographers, our Pantanal Jaguar Photography Tour is led by expert guides with extensive knowledge in wildlife photography. They will help you navigate the Pantanal and share useful tips to take the most beautiful photos of jaguars, as well as other native species, such as capybaras, caimans, macaws, deer, jabiru storks, and much more!

This Pantanal tour also includes a great stay experience in comfortable accommodations, wonderful service, and delicious Brazilian food at every meal.

While the itinerary below lists the activities for a 7-day trip, you can fully customize your tour to meet your preferences and needs.

Day by day

Our Pantanal Jaguar Photography Tour begins at 7 a.m., departing from Cuiabá. Along the Transpantaneira Park Road – a 97 km road that cuts through the Pantanal in Mato Grosso, connecting the towns of Poconé and Porto Jofre –, you’ll have many opportunities to see fascinating animals before even arriving at your final destination.

We’ll make strategic stops to admire nature and capture the landscape. Make sure your camera is fully charged!

After your meal, join a boat safari and have your first real contact with the Pantanal ecosystem. You’re welcome to take pictures, but since the goal of this activity is mostly getting familiar with the natural surroundings, try to just enjoy this moment to take everything in – the plants, the water, the birds in the sky, the fresh air, the enchanting atmosphere.

In the evening, back at the lodge, our photographer guides will present the itinerary for the next few days and answer any questions you might have. They’ll also give you valuable tips on wildlife photography and everything you need to know about the Pantanal. Take notes!

Now is when the adventure really kicks off! Our Pantanal Jaguar Photography Tour begins bright and early every day, at 5:30 a.m., so we’ll have plenty of time to explore the Pantanal’s grandiosity.

Accompanied by the guides, you’ll sail across the rivers of the Meeting of Waters State Park, a conservation unit renowned for its rich biodiversity and for housing different species of animals.

This is your chance to capture stunning shots of caimans, capybaras, and, of course, jaguars – who often roam around the riverbanks to hunt, res,t and cool off in the water. You don’t always witness something like that, so be prepared to immortalize the moment with your camera!

The guides will share their knowledge regarding photography techniques, some fun facts about the animals, and how to behave in the wild. Not only does this enrich the experience and perfect your photos, but it also ensures the group’s enjoyment and safety. Stay close to the guides, follow their instructions, and have fun!

Lunch will be served on board around noon Fill your belly on deck and enjoy the break to relax, check on your photographs, and mingle with your group. After eating, your search for wildlife will continue. Get ready to spot giant otters, brocket deer, tapirs, giant anteaters, and, hopefully, more jaguars!

Thousands of bird species also live in the area, like macaws, herons, toucans, and the impressive jabiru stork – considered the symbol of the Pantanal. The photographer guides will teach you how to take the best shots of these mesmerizing creatures, whether it’s pictures of them in their nests or even mid-flight.

The daily photo safari tour ends in the afternoon when the sun sets. That’s when the sky is colored with gold, providing jaw-dropping views for even more gorgeous Pantanal pictures.

Back at the lodge, you can unwind after such a busy and rewarding day, using the accommodation’s facilities fully. Grab a bite, have a drink, review your photos, engage with your colleagues and the guides to give and receive feedback on the pictures, and simply relish the unique experience of being immersed in the Pantanal.
