The Amazon Jungle Lodge
Located on a remote and unspoiled peninsula, surrounded by the river, 118 kilometres (73 miles) southeast of Manaus, the Amazon Jungle Lodge tour offers an experience covering a vast area of 7,000 hectares (17,300 acres), which has been fully preserved. Its design and construction are entirely eco-friendly, and the architecture is inspired by the building techniques used by the indigenous people of the Amazon River to construct their homes. The perfect combination of rusticity and sophistication creates a unique and memorable experience.

The lodge’s common areas are constructed in the same style, on stilts and covered in babaçu straw. These include a restaurant, a small bar, a comfortable hammock area to relax, and a terrace with stunning views over the river. The swimming pool is a unique feature of the lodge, designed for sitting under a floating terrace protected by underwater railings. The pool uses water from the river, allowing visitors to swim in complete safety. The area around the pool is perfect for relaxing in the sun, and visitors can also enjoy refreshments at the small bar nearby.

During your Amazon jungle lodge tour, you can explore predefined itineraries, led by a bilingual guide, which can be modified according to weather conditions.

Meeting of the Waters
On our way to the lodge, we stop for a break to see the amazing Meeting of the Waters, where the murky waters of the Solimões River merge with the dark waters of the Negro River. The two rivers, each with their own speed, temperature, colour and composition, flow side by side for several kilometres without blending. Eventually, they merge to create the mighty Amazon River.

Canoeing
Our canoeing tour offers an immersive and intimate exploration of the waterways (igarapés and igapós), an adventure that can only be experienced with canoes. As you journey through these waterways, you will be serenaded by the enigmatic sounds of the forest.

Night Tour
We go on a nocturnal tour to see frogs, birds, and, most importantly, caymans. Our guide uses his flashlight to spot these creatures, adding an exciting element to the tour. The sounds of the night are just as impressive as the star-studded sky.

Sunrise at the river
In the early morning, we will capture the fascinating change of colours in the sky and the sounds of the waking birds. Our guides provide binoculars to make this experience even more memorable and enjoy plenty of opportunities for birdwatching.

Jungle Hike
During this insightful jungle hike, our expert guide will introduce us to the diverse wildlife of the Amazon. He will point out various plants and describe their practical uses, many of which are edible or have medical benefits. To protect the forest, the trails used for the exploration are regularly altered.

Piranha Fishing
We will hop on a motorboat to fish for the infamous piranha and other Amazonian fish. Fishing is more convenient during the dry season as the fish cannot hide in the flooded areas as they do during the rainy season. After fishing we stop to admire the beautiful water lilies. As we return to the lodge at sunset, we will be greeted by some of the most breathtaking views the Amazon has to offer.

Visiting local inhabitants
On our Amazon jungle lodge tour, indigenous locals will share their knowledge and demonstrate the process of making manioc flour, one of the region’s main exports and economic drivers.

Visiting a Sumaúma Tree
We will visit a giant Sumaúma tree that stands for about one century. The Sumaúma tree is known as the largest tree in the Amazon, both in height and diameter, reaching heights of up to 40 metres.

Tree Climbing
This activity is run by Amazon Tree Climbing, a renowned chartered company recognised for being the pioneer of recreational tree climbing in Brazil. Unfortunately, while we I have rated our stay as four stars because we had an excellent guide and boat crew while we were there and they were what made the stay so great for us. Unfortunately, while we were there, not only was there no river pool (something that had influenced my choice of the lodge and we were not told it wouldn’t be there) but also on one night they closed the bar and after two nights they closed the communal sitting area. I appreciate maintaining a natural property like this in the middle of the Amazonas is hard but to take the pool away for repair and then close the main reception area for roofing as well is not great. The food here was really good and varied but the plan is that you sit with your guide at meal times and so you don’t really get to choose who you sit with. The activities here are really good and we had very small groups at all times which meant we were much quieter than other larger groups at the lodge and so saw more wildlife. I wouldn’t have wanted to be in the larger group. Overall my impression is that the lodge needs some TLC and it would then be lovely. But we are there for the Amazonas and we saw some amazing plants, learned about life in the area, fishing for piranha, saw river dolphins and monkeys and had a great time …read more read less

Also, the villas are far away from each other giving us ample privacy. It was a long ride getting to the hotel almost 3 hours once we landed but the boat rides were fun. The staff was amazing and the manager was extremely kind and caring and so were the rest of the staff. My friend’s shoe sole peeled away and we were going for a jungle walk and she did not have another pair of shoes. The manager went to her room and came back with a pair of her own shoes. This is a service of another level. The rooms were large and had very comfortable beds with a very relaxing hammock on the balcony with a view of the lake. the room and bathroom were clean. there is no air conditioning but the nice breeze from a large open window was refreshing and we had a couple of fans. it was not that bad. Not having wifi everywhere was bliss. you go to the wifi room once or twice a day and check messages etc. The device-free vacation was a welcome break. The food was amazing we were vegetarian and they made excellent pasta, beans, fried rice, and other dishes to suit our palette. the fresh fruits and fresh juices were amazing. Overall we were surprised by how well they made the veg food. The hotel has a very nice dining area and a hammock shack which is very relaxing after a heavy meal. the pool is filled with river water and is very beautifully located. Activities were amazing too especially the jungle walk, piranha fishing and night boat safari where we got a chance to hold a cayman and also see a green boa constrictor. We were very busy with activities every day and enjoyed every minute of it. …read more read less

All the meals were buffet style with a wide range of foods. I could try all the local fish, cassava, and hot sauces. The kids could enjoy their chocolate cereal, French fries, and plain pasta. Our guide and the staff spoke English so if we needed anything or had a question, we could always ask. It was incredible to see the beauty of the rainforest and all the animals — pink dolphins, a sloth, monkeys, caiman, a macaw, a tapir, parrots, iguanas, a boa constrictor, and so many birds. It was also great to see how the lodge supported the forest and the local community. I plan to go back to see the rainforest when the water is high. It was a trip of a lifetime. …read more read less

Our guide improved during the stay, a little immature, he had a disagreement with a couple in the group and sometimes I had the impression that he was there just to meet the schedule I personally did not appreciate the type of humor (but it is personal and did not detract from the experience ). As time passed he became more pleasant and attentive. The strong point is the walk in the forest and the canoe ride on Lake Juma. Another positive point we didn’t see any mosquitoes in the hotel.
