Highlights of the adventure
- Comfortable stay at Juma Amazon Lodge
- Delicious meals made with traditional local recipes and fresh ingredients
- Planting trees to contribute to the area’s reforestation program
- Visiting local communities to engage in Amazonian culture
Day by day
Our Amazon jungle lodge tour from Manaus starts bright and early between 6:30 and 7:30 am. Juma’s staff will pick you up at Eduardo Gomes International Airport (MAO) or your hotel and safely take you to the lodge.
On the way to the accommodation, witness the Meeting of Waters – the beautiful encounter of Rio Negro and Rio Solimões. Their waters (black and brown) meet but don’t quite merge, creating an impressive contrasting effect that symbolizes the Amazon’s enchanting atmosphere.
Upon arrival at the lodge, settle into your bungalow and enjoy the free time to visit one of Juma’s observation towers. At 31 meters above the treetops, the forest’s panoramic views will surely take your breath away.
After a delicious dinner, get ready for a boat tour to watch the animals roaming around the darkness of the night. Qualified guides will lead you to the best spots to see frogs, caimans, and other nocturnal creatures while also sharing fun facts about the Amazon Rainforest. Got a question? Ask away!
The first activity of the day is a lovely jungle trek. Hiking in the Amazon is one of the best ways to truly immerse yourself in the experience and connect with nature. Stretch your legs, breathe the fresh air, and admire the gorgeous scenario around you.
This, however, is no ordinary hike. You’ll stroll around the forest to learn survival techniques, identify medicinal plants, and discover useful tricks with locals who know the secrets of the Amazon like the back of their hands. You don’t learn those things every day, do you?
In the afternoon, the group will canoe through the igapós (flooded forest) and igarapés (water courses) to catch a glimpse at the forest from a different perspective. Birds, small mammals, insects, and countless species of plants will cross your path. Keep your eyes open!
Given Juma’s commitment to sustainability, some activities are directly related to caring for the forest and the Amazon ecosystem as a whole. Guests have the incredible experience of taking part in the reforestation program by planting trees that will soon grow tall and strong. Knowing how this simple act can help the conservation of the largest rainforest in the world, it’s impossible not to feel emotional.
In the evening, enjoy dinner and the lodge’s facilities. The next day will be full of adventure, so make sure to rest!
Jump out of bed when it’s still dark outside to watch the magical sunrise spectacle above the waters of the Juma River. Witnessing the sun slowly painting the sky orange and pink, as well as making the forest come alive, is an unbelievable experience.
After breakfast, the group will leave the lodge to visit sumaúmas, trees that can grow up to 45 meters tall and live for hundreds of years. Our guides will tell you everything about them, from their importance to the forest to their role in Amazonian culture.
Later on, the group will head to the river for some recreational fishing. Catching any type of fish is a sweet victory, but the main focus is definitely the enigmatic piranha. The guides will show you the best techniques and safety practices. You’re gonna love it!
The fourth day of our Amazon jungle lodge tour from Manaus starts with a hike across the forest. By lunchtime, the group will savor a delicious barbecue amidst the natural scenery.
In the afternoon, you’ll visit a caboclo family to learn all about their culture, traditions, and their day-to-day life surrounded by nature. This will help you understand how the locals play a huge part in making the Amazon one of the most riveting places on Earth.
When evening comes, enjoy your last dinner and leisure at Juma’s facilities.
On your final day, eat a hearty breakfast and say your goodbyes to this marvelous place. Juma’s staff will take you back to Manaus – arrival at the city is scheduled at 12 pm.

Accomodation
Aside from the activities listed above, this Amazon jungle lodge tour from Manaus gets even better due to the wonderful stay experience provided by Juma Amazon Lodge, a high-quality accommodation situated in the heart of the rainforest.
Guests can choose between twenty bungalows built on stilts to keep everyone far away from the water levels during the wet seasons – which can rise up to an impressive 15 meters. Not only is this a practical solution to Amazon’s requirements, but it also offers a delightful stay unlike any other.
The bungalows are divided between forest and river views, each offering a different glimpse of the forest that can make anyone wide-eyed with wonder. The rooms include private bathrooms, hot showers, comfortable beds (single, double, or king-size), work desks, balconies with hammocks, and charming rustic decor.
In the common areas, play board games or read a book in the lobby, relax at the hammock house, get a tan at the floating/sunbathing decks, swim in the river pool, visit the observation towers or the Tapiri (forest hut), learn about the Amazon mysteries at Juma’s exclusive museum, have a drink at the bar or fill your belly with the classic Brazilian food made by the lodge’s talented kitchen staff.
Frequently Asked Questions
There are a few ways to visit the Amazon Rainforest in Brazil, but the most convenient one is to fly to Manaus, the capital of Amazonas.

The Amazon in Mato Grosso and Pará are also amazing vacation spots to explore nature.

Although the Amazon is considered a year-round destination, the period from January to September offers the best climate conditions because it avoids the peak of Dry Season at the same time that there are good hiking trail options and enough water for aquatic activities.
Speaking of those, the Wet Season (December to May) is great for people who want to enjoy the Amazonian rivers by kayaking, canoeing, swimming and exploring the flooded forest. Rainstorms are common, but they don’t last too long.
The Dry Season (June to November) is popular because it usually allows both water and land-based activities. However, it’s important to notice that extended droughts are becoming more frequent, especially from October to December. This causes low water levels and limited access to a few areas and itineraries, but things tend to get better by January.

from BrazilOctober 15, 2024The hotel is set in a simply wonderful area. It’s rustic, but with comfort appropriate to the type of experience. Impeccable service from the entire team. The tours and activities give us a good idea The hotel is set in a simply wonderful area. It’s rustic, but with comfort appropriate to the type of experience. Impeccable service from the entire team. The tours and activities give us a good idea of Amazonian life. The cuisine is more basic, without sophistication, but very typical local, and all very tasty. As they are very isolated and depend on the boat to bring supplies from far away, at times it can be difficult to meet special requests. In the dry season, as we were, it may be a little difficult access for people with some difficulty of locomotion because there are many stairs and very high. As all tours and activities are carried out by the river, there is a need to go down and up stairs several times a day. At the time of flood, as the level of the river rises well, should be easier access. Before you go, you must understand that you will be in the middle of the Amazon jungle with all its peculiarities. In our case, we enjoyed the hotel and the whole experience too much, and we think it exceeded our expectations. …read more read lessDate of Experience: October 01, 2024

It has a lot of comfort without losing the experience An experience that will forever be in the memory and heart of our family. A deep connection with nature. The hotel facilities are great, beautiful. It has a lot of comfort without losing the experience of being in the jungle. Bed, pillow, shower, bedding all great, beautiful view. Pool with river water, very original. There are almost no mosquitoes, biting insects, due to the acidity of the water in the hotel area. There is a "domesticated" macaw that lives loose in the hotel and enchants children. The food is very tasty, with enough regionalism that allows us to know even more of the local culture. The chef was too attentive with my children. He is a friendliness, in fact every team is too much! My deep gratitude goes to our guide. He made the trip spectacular. We were received in Manaus on arrival, accompanied us all the way to the hotel, the 6 days in the hotel and tours and again to Manaus. The guide is fantastic! In partnership with our pilot of the boat they made the trip a spectacle. There were so many teachings. A wealth of content, love and care for nature. Our guide made the tours unforgettable. He told us so many good stories, taught us so many things. We were delighted! The interaction with the guide is key part of the trip. He eats breakfast, lunch and dinner every day at the table with us, then establishes a closeness, a affection that makes the experience even more welcoming. All walks are beautiful. The night is exciting. In that darkness in the middle of the river looking at the starry sky is to be amazed! It’s a lot of praise. My children already want to come back. For those who love nature and adventure, the Juma offers a charming immersion! You are to be congratulated!!! Great hug from the family. …read more read lessDate of Experience: July 01, 2024
