Tucano Amazon River Cruise: 5-day Wild Expedition in Brazil

Amazon
4 Nights·5 Days

Overview

The Tucano is one of the finest small-ship Amazon river cruises in Brazil, built for travelers who want a real adventure rather than a conventional cruise. Over 5 days, you reach the heart of the world’s largest rainforest with truly immersive, hands-on experiences led by bilingual naturalist guides.

Thanks to its yacht-style vessel, the M/Y Tucano goes further into the wilderness than larger boats. This cruise reaches the Central Amazon Conservation Complex, an area so remote only smaller boats can get there. With just 8 cabins for up to 16 guests, it is a genuine and intimate small-ship expedition.

Sailing the Negro River, the Tucano Amazon River Cruise packs in guided hikes, kayaking, electric-motor canoe outings, and wildlife watching, plus the Meeting of Waters near the end. After a full day of activities, you relax in the comfortable en-suite cabins and common areas.

  • Full itinerary: electric-motor canoe outings, dawn igapó (flooded forest) excursions, solid-ground forest hikes, night wildlife tours for caimans and the potoo bird, the Central Amazon Conservation Complex, the Meeting of Waters, and a farewell Caipirinha Night.
  • Reaches the Central Amazon Conservation Complex, one of the forest’s most remote areas, where the Tucano’s silent electric motors let you get close to wildlife without scaring it off.
  • Wildlife watching for pink river dolphins, monkeys, sloths, caimans, and hundreds of bird species, plus the Meeting of Waters, where the Negro and Solimões flow side by side without mixing.
  • A nimble 3-deck yacht, the M/Y Tucano, with over 70 large windows and a silent motor, carrying only 12 to 16 guests in 8 en-suite cabins.
  • Air-conditioned, en-suite cabins with Egyptian cotton linens and natural bath amenities, in three categories (Yellow, Green, and Blue) for couples, friends, and solo travelers.
  • Activities guided by bilingual, English-speaking naturalist guides, with 3 to 5 excursions a day.
  • All-inclusive experience: round-trip transfer, full board with purified water, every guided excursion, and the full crew.
  • Please note: This is a dynamic small-ship expedition (only 12 to 16 travelers) with an active pace and 3 to 5 guided excursions a day. Travelers should be fit enough to walk on uneven terrain for up to 2 hours. There is no Wi-Fi or phone signal on board (a satellite phone is available for emergencies), and the itinerary adapts to water levels.
