Day 1 :

Journey into the Pantanal

📍Pick-up is available from Campo Grande Airport or your hotel, with flexible timing until 11 a.m.

Your adventure begins with a private transfer from Campo Grande to the southern Pantanal. The journey takes about 7 hours, covering 250–280 km with a mix of asphalt and dirt roads. Once you enter the more remote areas of the Pantanal, the journey continues in a 4×4 vehicle, navigating through the rugged landscape to your lodge.

This rugged road is only accessible by 4×4, adding to the adventure as you pass wildlife-rich areas where you might spot capybaras, caimans, and birds, making the journey itself feel like a safari!

Want to enjoy breathtaking views of the largest tropical wetland? Take a private small-plane flight for about 1 hour, offering a unique perspective of the Pantanal’s wildlife and landscapes.

Upon arrival at your lodge in the late afternoon, you’ll check in, settle in, and enjoy dinner surrounded by the sounds of the Pantanal. Immerse yourself in the traditional Southern Pantanal cuisine made from locally sourced ingredients.

Important Note: During the dry season (April to November), the 4×4 transfer is possible, but during the rainy season (December to March), access is limited, and travel is only feasible by small-plane flight, which provides breathtaking aerial views of the vast wetlands.

Day 2 :

Horseback Ride / Photo Safari

Wake to the chorus of birds at sunrise and enjoy a hearty breakfast before heading out on a morning horseback ride. This authentic way of exploring the Pantanal takes you across open fields, wetlands, shallow lagoons, and forest edges.

During the ride, you also have the opportunity to join local cowhands in their daily work, experiencing their skills with lassoing and cattle handling, a true immersion in the life of Pantanal’s traditional ranchers! The experience is very safe and suitable for all levels. But if you prefer not to ride, you can swap this activity for a guided walk, exploring the same trails on foot while enjoying the scenery.

After lunch and a short rest, join an afternoon photo safari in a 4×4 vehicle, scanning the horizon for giant anteaters, marsh deer, and countless bird species. You may also have a chance to spot jaguars, though sightings are rare in this area. As the sun sets, the landscape glows in golden light, perfect for photography.

Canoeing and Fishing / Night Safari

After breakfast, set out on a canoe trip along calm waters, gliding silently past caimans, capybaras, and flocks of herons. In the right season, reflections of the surrounding vegetation turn the experience into a living postcard. You also have the option to try fishing, with the peaceful surroundings adding to the relaxing experience. The piranhas are waiting for you!

In the evening, embark on a night safari, where the spotlight reveals the Pantanal’s nocturnal wildlife. As the darkness settles, you’ll search for creatures such as ocelots, foxes, armadillos, and nightjars, while the calls of owls echo in the background.

This immersive experience allows you to witness the Pantanal’s unique creatures in their natural nocturnal habitat, providing an unforgettable adventure under the stars.

Back to Campo Grande

The return to Campo Grande is flexible, according to the flight schedule.

When is the best time to visit?

The best time to visit the Pantanal is May to October, during the dry and intermediate seasons. Water levels drop, animals gather around remaining lagoons, and wildlife spotting becomes easier, making it the peak time for safaris.
From November to March, the wet and rainy seasons transform the landscape into a lush aquatic world. Boat tours are ideal then, and bird activity is intense, but roads can be muddy and mammals harder to see.

Pantanal North vs South: Which one should I choose?

The North Pantanal (Cuiabá–Porto Jofre) is the world’s best place to see jaguars, especially on boat safaris along the Cuiabá River. The region also offers excellent birdwatching and is perfect for photography-focused travelers.

The South Pantanal (Campo Grande–Miranda/Corumbá) is more diverse in activities, including horseback riding, walking safaris, and community experiences. Wildlife is abundant, though jaguars are harder to see.
