This wonderful Pantanal trip is recommended for couples and families. Still, it has a special place in solo travelers’ hearts due to its affordability and great accommodation options, with private and shared rooms. This is also the only budget lodge in the area with its English-speaking guides, so tourists from all over the world are more than welcome!

Besides the breathtaking view of the Pantanal, the activities of this tour are the main characters: wildlife watching, hiking, horseback riding, boat tours, piranha fishing, etc. Nature junkies will love it!

Please notice: the itinerary below is just a sample. Upon arrival at the lodge, guests can choose the activities for the entire trip based on their own preference, availability and weather conditions.
Highlights of the adventure
- Wildlife watching (native Pantanal animals, including capybaras, caimans, howler monkeys, tapirs, deer, ocelots, herons, etc.)
- Water activities in the Miranda River (boat riding, canoeing, swimming, floating)
- Other activities in nature (piranha fishing, hiking, horseback riding, sunset contemplation, car safari, night spotting)
- Comfortable accommodation with a private room or shared dorms
- Guided tours with English-speaking, local professionals
Day by day
Departure from Campo Grande between 10 and 10:30 a.m.
On the first day of our budget Pantanal tour, our staff will pick you up at the airport, bus station, or your hotel in Campo Grande, the capital of Mato Grosso do Sul, between 10:00 and 10:30 a.m.
If you select the private transfer, a car will drive you straight to the lodge. For the regular transfer, you’ll share a minivan with other travelers, riding from the city to Buraco das Piranhas, where the lodge’s jeep will be waiting to take you to the accommodation. The trip allows you to spot some animals on the Pantanal Park Road before even arriving at your final destination. Keep your eyes open!

Once you arrive at the lodge, you’ll check in and plan your itinerary for the next few days. Take your time to settle in, look around the facilities, rest for a bit, and grab a bite.
One of the most beloved activities on this particular tour is the piranha fishing. Right outside the lodge, on the banks of the Miranda River, guests use simple fishing rods to catch the fish. An instructor will be with you the entire time, sharing tips and safety practices. If you’re able to catch a good amount of piranhas, you can hand them to the kitchen and have some delicious fried fish for dinner!

If the weather is nice, how about taking a motorboat ride in the late afternoon to watch the sunset? As night falls, explore the Miranda River with your guide for some wildlife spotting, including caimans, owls, ocelots, and deer.

- Campo Grande → Buraco das Piranhas → Lodge: Approximately 300 km, taking about 5 hours (car)
You don’t want to miss a single second of your affordable Pantanal tour, so wake up bright and early to enjoy a delicious, freshly made breakfast.
When you’re ready, head out on a car safari to explore! In an open pickup truck, we’ll drive along the Pantanal Park Road in search of wildlife. You may see armadillos, tapirs, marmosets, hedgehogs, capuchin monkeys, bush dogs, and a variety of lizards, snakes, and birds. Don’t forget your camera!

Halfway through the tour, the group will get out of the car and explore on foot, since walking allows for a closer look at the natural fields. Aside from wildlife watching, the guides will also share some trivia about the native flora. We’ll hike for over an hour, while the entire activity lasts around four hours. Plenty of time to delve into nature!
Back at the lodge, enjoy lunch and relax, but no afternoon naps! On our next adventure, a motorboat will speed through the Miranda River for 30 minutes until we jump on paddle canoes to calmly glide across the water. This is the perfect chance to take in the beautiful view, contemplating the blue sky, green vegetation, and listening to the birds happily chirping in the trees.

Traveling to the Pantanal means getting the most incredible wildlife experience you’ve ever seen, so get ready to embark on a boat, equipped with comfy chairs and life jackets, once again to dive even deeper into the wonders of the Miranda River.

The Pantanal aquatic life is mesmerizing, including black caimans, giant otters, and capybaras. There’s also the chance of seeing other species flying across the sky or roaming around the riverbanks, such as hawks, herons, and howler monkeys. And with some luck, you might even spot the all-powerful jaguar!

After lunch, we’ll drive to a farm 20 km away and enjoy a lovely ride on horseback through open fields, mountain range, and flooded areas. This is the perfect activity to relax and enjoy the beauty of the Pantanal from a different perspective.

It is our last day in the Pantanal, but there is still time to enjoy our last activity before we say goodbye!
Join us on the Miranda River for a boat ride, swimming, and floating – with the help of foam floats and life jackets. Savor the moment by relaxing, enjoying the current and the warm breeze, admiring the view, and listening to the beautiful sounds of nature.

Enjoy your final lunch and get ready to check out. At 2:30 p.m., a car will take you to Buraco das Piranhas, and then another shared vehicle will safely drive the group to Campo Grande (regular transfer). If you select the private transfer, the car will take you straight to the city.
- Jungle Lodge → Buraco das Piranhas → Campo Grande: Approximately 300 km, taking about 5 hours (car)
