3 Nights·4 Days

Overview

Exploring northern Chile becomes effortless with this 4-day Atacama Desert tour package. Designed to showcase one of the planet’s most dramatic landscapes, the journey balances comfort and scenic landscapes into a single well-crafted itinerary. Every detail is arranged for you, from shared airport transfers and handpicked hotel stays in San Pedro de Atacama to guided excursions and meals included along the way.

The itinerary features the region’s defining sights and natural contrasts. Watch the sun set over the sculpted terrain of Moon Valley, spot Andean flamingos across the vast Salar de Atacama, and take in the crimson fields of Piedras Rojas alongside high-altitude lagoons. Before dawn, head up to the El Tatio geysers to see massive geothermal steam plumes burst through the morning cold.

You can also enjoy quiet downtime and evening wonder. Unwind in the thermal waters of Puritama Hot Springs, nestled in a canyon filled with native flora. When night falls, set out on a stargazing tour with a local astronomy guide, mapping the southern constellations over cocktails.

  • Full itinerary: Moon Valley at sunset and a stargazing tour; the Salar de Atacama with Laguna Chaxa, Toconao, and the Jerez Valley; the Puritama Hot Springs, Piedras Rojas, and the Miscanti and Miñiques lagoons; and the El Tatio geysers at sunrise.
  • See Andean flamingos twice: at Laguna Chaxa, in Los Flamencos National Reserve, and at the Putana wetlands, where vicuñas also graze.
  • Reach 4,350 m (14,272 ft) at Piedras Rojas on Day 3, after two days at lower altitude to get used to the thin air.
  • An Atacama Desert stargazing tour with an astronomy talk, to read the night sky with the naked eye.

  • Activities guided by bilingual local guides, in shared groups of up to 9 guests.
  • All-inclusive experience: shared airport transfers from Calama, 3 hotel nights, and guided tours with their main entrance fees and meals.

In the afternoon, explore Valle de la Luna (Moon Valley) in the Salt Mountain Range (Cordillera de la Sal). Guided by a local expert in regional geology and mining history, visit key landmarks including the Victoria Mine, the Great Dune, the Amphitheater, and the iconic Tres Marías formations. End at Ckari Viewpoint for sunset, when the desert turns gold and red, with a cocktail before returning to San Pedro.

In the evening, head to the village for the stargazing tour, where a local astronomy specialist shows the constellations. A cocktail is served under the stars. Around the full moon, the moonlight hides most of the stars, so the tour may focus on the moon instead at the local astronomy center.
