How to get to Jalapão State Park?

The closest airport to Jalapão is in the city of Palmas, capital of the state of Tocantins. There it’s the starting point to explore Jalapão. Direct flights are not always available, so be prepared for connections. Jalapão consists of nine municipalities, with Ponte Alta, Mateiros, and São Félix being the main destinations, making them the preferred bases for most tourists exploring the region. However, it’s important to note that there are numerous captivating attractions scattered throughout the area. Many people wonder about the distance between Palmas and Jalapão, but it’s important to understand that the tour through Jalapão is a circuit: you usually start on one side and finish on the other.

It’s important to note that access to the region can be challenging. The majority of roads in Jalapão are unpaved or covered in soft sand, which can pose difficulties for vehicles. Particularly during the dry season, when the sandy soil becomes even softer, there is a higher risk of getting stuck. To ensure a smooth journey, we highly recommend traveling with a 4×4 vehicle and an experienced driver who is accustomed to navigating these sandy roads. By taking these precautions, you can avoid any unexpected delays or missing out on the incredible experiences that Jalapão has to offer.

When planning your itinerary exercise caution and thorough research to ensure a well-rounded experience that includes the hidden gems of Jalapão. All our itineraries depart from Palmas to Jalapão, with various options for routes, available days, and activities.
