About the adventure
There’s no place on Earth like the Amazon Rainforest in Brazil. Beautiful, complex, and rich, it’s the perfect destination for those who love nature and adventure. Are you up for an exciting challenge that will make your blood pump and fill your heart with love for this mesmerizing planet?

If the answer is yes, then this expedition is the right vacation option for you! This journey will take you to the depths of the largest rainforest in the world to experience the most fascinating gifts Mother Nature has to offer.

With the help of qualified English-speaking guides, our 4-day Amazon Survival Tour will make your wildest dreams come true. You can explore the vegetation, watch animals in their natural habitat, hike through the ancient trees, camp in the forest, and learn valuable survival techniques that will make your trip even better.

This is a shorter version of our 6-day Amazon Survival Tour. If you want a deeper immersion in the Brazilian jungle, check it out!
Highlights of the adventure
- Meeting of Waters (a phenomenon that makes the waters of Rio Negro and Rio Solimões meet, but not blend)
- Learn Survival techniques (fishing, identifying plants and animals, administrating medicinal plants, navigating the river, etc.)
- Hiking and canoeing to discover the secrets of the Amazon jungle
- Wildlife watching (birds, monkeys, caiman alligators and more)
- Wild camping in the forest and sleeping in hammocks
Day by day
Departure from Manaus at 8 a.m.
Our Amazon Survival Tour starts at Ceasa Port, in Manaus, the capital of Amazonas. At 8 a.m., a speedboat will take you to the famous Meeting of Waters and then to Careiro da Várzea, a nice little village nearby. Enjoy the ride to contemplate the view and breathe some fresh air.

One of our vehicles will pick you up so the journey to Mamori River can continue, which takes 50 minutes. Then, another speedboat ride (about 45 minutes) will reach the main base around 11:30 a.m. A delicious meal with local ingredients will be served there.

Visitors will have some time to rest before the activities begin, at 2:30 p.m. On a boat, you’ll get to the campsite area. Dinner will be prepared shortly after, cooked on the flames of the campfire.

The day starts pretty early so you can watch the sunrise at 5:30 a.m. on a relaxing canoe trip. You’ll definitely be hungry at 7 a.m. when breakfast is served. One hour later, you’ll see with your own eyes how hiking in the Amazon jungle is a unique experience to be appreciated. Tour guides will explain everything you need to know about the local fauna and flora. Got a question? Don’t hesitate to ask!

After a hearty meal, jump back on the boat so you can reach a new area to set up another campsite. There’s a good reason for this: fishing lessons to catch Amazonian fish, especially the enigmatic piranha. Safety practices and other instructions will be provided by the best experts on the rainforest.

You’ll be back by dinnertime. Then, the day will end with one last night tour – which can be a little sad, but it’s even more reason to enjoy every second of this fantastic adventure!

Hiking will occupy most of the morning on the third day, from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. You’ll discover things about the Amazon ecosystem that will surely make you even more amazed by its richness. Everyone will learn important facts about the wild creatures and how to survive in the jungle using fruits and plants – for feeding and medicinal properties.

Exploration of the Várzea area will kick off the day for the last moments of our 4-day Amazon Survival Tour. This is the final chance to soak in nature and observe the wildlife. Indulge your senses with an exquisite birdwatching experience.

During the drought season (September to March), the group will walk, but a boat ride is necessary in the flood season. The experience is amazing either way – Amazonian nature never disappoints.

After returning to the main base, it’s lunch and relaxation time. Take this opportunity to savor your last Brazilian meal and rest before going back to the city. Departure will happen at 2 p.m. You’ll get to Manaus around 4:30 p.m.

The 4-day Amazon Survival Tour is recommended for adventure lovers who don’t mind giving up some comfort to encounter the beautiful things that nature can give.

Meals are simple but made with fresh ingredients, including chicken and fish caught on the same day. How cool is that? If you’re a vegetarian or vegan, your host can accommodate your food preferences as well. This is your chance not only to taste amazing Brazilian and Amazonian food but also to enjoy the most authentic cooking experience in the forest.

Given the soothing sounds of the jungle, the fresh air, and the soft breeze, this might just be the best sleep of your life!
Frequently Asked Questions
The Amazon is a year-round destination, but the best conditions are generally from January to September, when trails are accessible, water levels are good for river activities, and extreme drought is avoided.
From December to May (wet season), travelers can enjoy kayaking, canoeing, and exploring the flooded forest, with short tropical rainstorms. The dry season (June to November) allows a mix of water and land activities, but prolonged droughts, especially from October to December, can lower river levels and restrict access to some areas, improving again by January.

Manaus (AM): To get to Manaus, fly into its international airport, which has direct connections from Miami (MIA), Fort Lauderdale (FLL), Panama City (PTY), and Bogotá (BOG). From Europe, seasonal flights are available, but most travelers connect via São Paulo (GRU) or Brasília (BSB).
Once in Manaus, reaching the rainforest is easy: transfers are made by boat (1–3 hours) or small plane, depending on the lodge you choose.

The Pantanal is the best destination if your priority is spotting wildlife, thanks to its open landscapes where jaguars, giant otters, capybaras, and birds are easier to see. In the Amazon, wildlife is abundant but harder to observe in the dense forest, where animals often stay hidden. That said, visitors still encounter monkeys, caimans, dolphins, and countless bird species: it’s just less about frequent sightings and more about immersion in the world’s largest rainforest.
👉 Still deciding between destinations? Check out our comparison of the Pantanal and the Amazon and choose the best spot for your adventure.
At least 3 days are recommended for a first Amazon experience. For deeper immersion, 4–7 days allow you to explore multiple ecosystems, spot more wildlife, and connect with local communities. Longer stays are ideal for those who want slower travel, river expeditions, and meaningful cultural exchanges.
👉 Wondering about timing? Find out how many days to spend in the Amazon
Yes. All tours are guided by experienced professionals who know the forest and its wildlife. Encounters with dangerous animals are avoided, and guides ensure safe distances at all times. Traveling with certified operators means you can explore confidently, focusing on the beauty of the forest rather than safety concerns.

A yellow fever vaccine is recommended when visiting Brazil, including the Amazon, but it is not mandatory. There are no known cases of yellow fever in the rainforest, yet many travelers choose to be vaccinated as a precaution. It is also a good idea to make sure your tetanus shot is up to date before your trip.
As for malaria, medication is not required, but some visitors prefer to take preventive pills. Keep in mind that these can cause side effects such as nausea, so it’s best to consult your doctor before deciding. Overall, basic precautions and guided travel keep health risks in the Amazon very low.
