Keep in mind: the journey to Pousada Trijunção takes about 5 hours on the road. The check-in policy is very flexible, so you’re free to choose the schedule that works best for you. However, to make sure it’s still light when you arrive and with enough time to enjoy a few activities right on the first day, we recommend you leave Brasília by 9 a.m.

In the late afternoon, our guides will take you on a 3-hour safari to watch the sunset on Mirante Trijunção, a fantastic lookout that offers panoramic views in the triple border of the states of Bahia, Goiás, and Minas Gerais. In the heart of the Cerrado, this 33,000 ha territory isn’t only a jaw-dropping scenario, but it’s also a sustainable area whose purpose is to care for the biome and all of its creatures.

Watching the sun slowly disappear on the horizon is one of the most beautiful things you’ll ever see. Bring your camera to capture this beauty, but don’t forget to just sit back, enjoy the moment, and connect with nature.

Kick off your day with a lovely birdwatching tour led by an expert biologist who knows everything about the Cerrado. You’ll leave Pousada Trijunção bright and early, when the sun is still rising, to follow the birds’ daily routine.

There are over 270 species of birds around the property, including woodpeckers, hawks, and macaws. The guides will take you to the best locations to spot these animals, explain their lifestyle, and give some tips so you can take great photos. Don’t hesitate to ask any questions you might have!

After savoring amazing Brazilian dishes at lunch, it’s time for the Botanical Trail, a hiking experience focused on exploring Cerrado’s rich flora of 13,000 identified species of plants. Aromas, colors, and textures will take you on a sensory journey unlike any other.

During the 2-hour hike, your guides will teach you about the science behind the native plants, as well as their relationship with humans. What are their roles in people’s day-to-day lives? How are they used in medicine, food, and crafts? You’ll find out on this tour!

In the evening, embark on a safari to spot nocturnal animals in Lagoa das Araras, like dwarf caimans, tiger cats, armadillos, etc. Whether you’re in the car or sailing through the waters of the lake, you’ll marvel at the diversity of the savanna and the breathtaking starry sky.

The third day of your Cerrado tour in Brazil begins with one of the most exciting activities of Pousada Trijunção: the mane wolf sighting! This experience is held in collaboration with the professionals of Onçafari, who organize the entire excursion and follow carefully thought-out guidelines to ensure the guest’s and animals’ safety.

Since the mane wolf is a nocturnal animal, the tour begins before the sun rises, when it’s still dark outside. Onçafari guides will accompany you the whole time, while the open vehicles provide a great structure to watch the animals and keep everyone safe.

In the late morning, get ready to visit Grande Sertão Veredas National Park, a conservation area of 230,000 ha. You’ll be able to see up close some of the park’s most exquisite attractions, like Mirante Três Irmãos (a gorgeous lookout), Carinhanha and Preto rivers, and the Mato Grande waterfall and trail.

Visiting the national park is also a great opportunity to get to know a different part of the Cerrado vegetation and observe the wildlife. Enjoy every second!

Back at the lodge, take a nice shower, put on some comfy clothes, head to the dining area to grab a bite, and just relax.

Another early morning activity – but it’s more than worth it! Guests leave Pousada Trijunção when it’s still dark to head to Lagoa das Araras.  The spectacle begins shortly after when the first rays of light paint the horizon in orange and pink hues. The sky reflects on the water, creating an infinite landscape that will make you breathless.

Things get even better while you feast on a delicious breakfast at the pier while admiring the exuberant Cerrado view.

In the afternoon, go on a 3-hour hike in the Sussuarana Trail. That’s your chance to immerse yourself even more in the Cerrado biome. On the boundary of rivers Formoso and Correntes, right at the foot of the Red Wall, this trek reveals an unbelievable beauty.

Sussuarana is a hiking trail of moderate difficulty, so make sure to wear proper clothing and footwear. If you’re looking for more adrenaline, take the section with a rope descent from the wall!

After lunch, the groups will bike or ride on a 4×4 vehicle towards Lagoa das Araras. You can swim in the lake to cool off before you start kayaking. Enjoy the serene atmosphere and keep your eyes open to spot different species of animals, like the blue-and-yellow macaw.

Start the fifth and last day of our Cerrado trip in Brazil with a hearty breakfast to give you enough fuel for the following activity.

On fat bikes – designed for riding on unstable terrain, like dirt, mud, and sand – ride through the roads of Pousada Trijunção’s property while listening to the birds chirping and admiring the plants embellishing the path. Since this is your final activity, make sure to savor every moment!
