Panoramica

Un itinerario che non sta mai fermo, con molte occasioni per avvistare uccelli esotici. Oltre alle camminate guidate per l'osservazione degli uccelli, la foresta la vivi anche dall'alto delle torri di osservazione di 50 metri, dall'acqua in canoa o in barca e da dentro, a piedi nella giungla.

Per il birdwatching in Amazzonia, il Cristalino Lodge è l'indirizzo migliore: circa 600 specie registrate nella più grande riserva privata della regione. La vocazione ornitologica risale agli anni Novanta, e da allora sono nati i sentieri specializzati, tracciati per cercare le specie rare e native dell'avifauna amazzonica insieme a guide esperte.

Il soggiorno mette insieme natura vera e comfort sostenibile. Le sistemazioni sono curate nei dettagli: si va dalle accoglienti camere standard ai bungalow spaziosi con veranda privata. Tra un'escursione e l'altra ti rilassi al ristorante di cucina amazzonica, in sala lettura o sul pontile galleggiante panoramico, con il braciere all'aperto.

Itinerario

Giorno 1

Arrivo / Prima escursione in Amazzonia

  • Arrivo Aeroporto di Alta Floresta (AFL) · check-in ~15:00
  • Trasferimento in barca Rio Cristalino fino al lodge
  • Breve escursione facoltativa sentiero facile per iniziare · primi uccelli

Il partner locale di PlanetaEXO ti aspetta in aeroporto. Gli orari sono flessibili e si organizzano in base al tuo volo e alle tue preferenze. Il lodge si trova in un angolo remoto ed esclusivo dell'Amazzonia, quindi l'ultimo tratto si fa in barca, risalendo il Rio Cristalino. Arrivo previsto alle 15:00.

Appena arrivi ti sistemi, riposi dopo il viaggio e prendi confidenza con le strutture del Cristalino Lodge. Se te la senti, un sentiero breve e facile ti porta a cercare i primi uccelli già dal primo giorno. La sera, dopo cena, ci si sposta al bar e sul pontile galleggiante del lodge, dove si accende un falò mentre scende la notte sul fiume.

Birdwatching sul sentiero Dr. Haffer / Canoa

Il birdwatching in Amazzonia comincia presto: le attività partono prima dell'alba, quando gli uccelli si svegliano. Con guide che conoscono l'area a memoria, percorri il Dr. Haffer Trail, dedicato all'ornitologo tedesco Jürgen Haffer e alla sua teoria dei rifugi forestali amazzonici durante il Pleistocene.

La camminata dura dalle 3 alle 4 ore su un sentiero di bassa difficoltà, e lungo il percorso può capitare di incrociare specie come il formicario ornato (Epinecrophylla ornata), l'occhio di fuoco del Tapajós (Pyriglena similis), la monachina dal capo rossiccio (Nonnula ruficapilla), il formicario striato (Drymophila devillei) e il cercafoglie dalle guance scure (Anabazenops dorsalis).

Dopo pranzo e una pausa, il pomeriggio è per la canoa sul Rio Cristalino; si cena sul pontile esterno, con i suoni della foresta dopo il tramonto.

Giorno 3

Birdwatching sul Manakin Trail / Canoa o barca

Il terzo giorno si apre sul Manakin Trail, che prende il nome dal manachino dal vertice bianco (Pseudopipra pipra). Si raggiunge solo via acqua: un breve tragitto in barca ti lascia vicino a un lago, e da lì si parte.

Qui di solito si passano più di 4 ore, con avvistamenti che vanno dal jacamar bronzeo (Galbula leucogastra) al buccone dalle bande brune (Notharchus ordii), fino al falco di foresta criptico (Micrastur mintoni).

Dopo pranzo scegli tu: di nuovo la canoa oppure un'uscita tranquilla in barca sul Rio Teles Pires, sempre con un occhio agli uccelli e alla fauna amazzonica: tapiri, cervi, ocelotti e pesci nativi come il pesce tigre brasiliano, il pesce gatto dalla coda rossa e la piraíba. La serata è libera, con cena e un drink al bar.

Alba dalle torri / Birdwatching / Escursione nella giungla

Un'altra sveglia presto per il birdwatching in Amazzonia. Dalla cima di una torre di osservazione di 50 metri l'alba si vede meglio che da qualsiasi altro punto, ed è anche uno dei momenti migliori per avvistare gli uccelli, che escono a nutrirsi e a raccogliere materiale per il nido.

Dopo pranzo, un'escursione a piedi ti porta più a fondo nella foresta. Le guide del Cristalino raccontano quello che sanno sulla vegetazione, sugli animali e sulla cultura locale, e intanto spunta quasi sempre qualche altro uccello.

Giorno 5

Altopiani della Sierra / Birdwatching all'Isola Ariosto

Si punta verso gli altopiani della Riserva Cristalino, che salgono dai 250 ai 450 metri sul livello del mare. Per arrivare ai Sierra Trails serve un tragitto in barca, ma la varietà ripaga: alberi e fiori diversi, valli, formazioni rocciose, insetti, piccoli mammiferi, rettili e uccelli. Parla con le guide per decidere quali percorrere (Sierra Trail I, Cocoa Sierra Trail, Sierra Trail II e il Valley Trail).

Si rientra al lodge per pranzo, e il pomeriggio è tutto per il birdwatching sull'Ariosto Island Trail, che percorre un'isola di 567 ettari in mezzo al Rio Teles Pires, dove vive anche l'uccello ombrello amazzonico (Cephalopterus ornatus). Il tramonto sul fiume, visto dall'isola, chiude la giornata.
