Panoramica

Due giorni a piedi dentro il Parco Nazionale dei Lençóis Maranhenses: dune bianche ondulate che cambiano forma a ogni vento e lagune d’acqua dolce trasparente in mezzo a un paesaggio che sembra deserto e invece non lo è. In Brasile, tra dune e lagune, non esiste nient’altro di simile.

Sei chilometri all’andata e sei al ritorno, con il grosso della giornata passato dentro l’oasi: è un trekking di due giorni tarato su chi vuole camminare davvero senza affrontare una traversata lunga. Si dorme a Baixa Grande, ospite di una famiglia che vive tra le dune, e la sera si sta insieme, si mangia quello che cucinano loro e si scambiano due parole sul come si vive qui.

Le partenze sono da Atins e Barreirinhas: il villaggio di sabbia sulla foce del fiume e la cittadina che fa da base a tutta la regione. Il secondo giorno, dopo il rientro dalle dune, il fuoristrada scende fino a Canto do Atins, dove il Rio Preguiças finisce nell’Atlantico e dove si pranza prima di chiudere il giro.

Giorno 1

Atins / Rio Negro / oasi di Baixa Grande

  • Transfer in 4x4Atins → Rio Negro · ~2 ore · ~60 km da Barreirinhas
  • CamminoRio Negro → Baixa Grande · ~3 ore · 6 km · sabbia soffice
  • BagniSoste alle lagune lungo il percorso · ~1 ora in totale

Partenza da Atins, nei Lençóis Maranhenses: il partner locale di PlanetaEXO passa a prenderti nel tuo alloggio ad Atins alle 6:30. Il tragitto in 4×4 fino all’imbocco del percorso a Rio Negro dura circa 2 ore, con una sosta lungo la strada per la colazione e per l’alba sulle dune. Da Rio Negro il cammino segue un tracciato segnalato sulle dune, in direzione dell’oasi di Baixa Grande.

I 6 km si coprono in circa 3 ore, comprese le soste alle lagune d’acqua dolce lungo il percorso: c’è tempo per nuotare, fotografare e riposare all’ombra delle poche palme dentro l’oasi. Arrivo previsto verso le 10:30. Dopo il pranzo e il riposo il gruppo torna sulle dune per un altro bagno e per il tramonto. Cena e notte a casa di una famiglia del posto.

Attenzione: al posto di Atins il tuo trekking può partire da Barreirinhas. In quel caso la partenza è alle 4:30. Conferma la logistica al momento della prenotazione.

Giorno 2

Baixa Grande / Rio Negro / Canto do Atins / Atins

  • CamminoBaixa Grande → Rio Negro · ~3 ore · 6 km
  • Transfer in 4x4Rio Negro → Canto do Atins · 1–2 ore · ~25 km
  • Sosta pranzoCanto do Atins (foce del Rio Preguiças) · ~1,5 ore

Sveglia presto e colazione a casa della famiglia alle 7. Alle 8 si riparte a piedi verso Rio Negro, su un tracciato simile a quello del giorno prima e con le solite soste alle lagune. L’arrivo all’imbocco del percorso è previsto per le 10:30.

Da lì un 4×4 recupera il gruppo e scende a Canto do Atins, dove il Rio Preguiças incontra l’oceano Atlantico. Il tratto passa tra piccoli villaggi di pescatori e vegetazione di mangrovia. Il pranzo è in un ristorante di Canto do Atins. Dopo, il gruppo viene riportato ad Atins e lasciato all’alloggio di ciascuno: qui il viaggio si chiude. Arrivo previsto verso le 14.
