Panoramica

Tre giorni di trekking nei Lençóis Maranhenses, da Barreirinhas a Santo Amaro, a piedi sulla sabbia bianca di un campo di dune che sembra non finire mai. Si cammina nelle ore fresche, ci si ferma a nuotare nelle lagune d’acqua dolce che riempiono gli avvallamenti tra una duna e l’altra e si riparte quando il sole allenta la presa.

Le due notti si passano dentro il parco nazionale, nelle case delle famiglie che abitano le oasi di Baixa Grande e Queimada dos Britos. Qui non ci sono alberghi: si dorme in amaca, si mangia quello che cucina chi ti ospita e si guarda da vicino come funziona la giornata di chi vive a ore di sabbia dalla strada più vicina.

In totale fanno 32 km a piedi e 54 km in 4×4, con l’alba osservata dall’alto delle dune il secondo e il terzo giorno e la Lagoa do Cajueiro come ultimo bagno prima di uscire dal parco. Un giorno in più della traversata di 2 giorni, uno in meno di quella di 4: la misura giusta per entrare davvero nei Lençóis senza allungare troppo il viaggio. Pronto a partire?

Giorno 1

Barreirinhas (o Atins) / Rio Negro / oasi di Baixa Grande

Partenza da Barreirinhas, nei Lençóis Maranhenses: il partner locale di PlanetaEXO passa a prenderti al tuo alloggio alle 4:30.

Il 4×4 impiega circa 2 ore di piste fuoristrada per raggiungere l’imbocco del sentiero sul Rio Negro, con una sosta lungo la strada per guardare l’alba sul paesaggio intorno. Da lì il tuo trekking nei Lençóis Maranhenses comincia davvero, con 6 km leggeri (2–3 ore) fino all’oasi di Baixa Grande e qualche laguna in cui rinfrescarti. Arrivo previsto all’oasi verso mezzogiorno.

Dopo il pranzo e il riposo il gruppo torna sulle dune per un altro bagno e per il tramonto. Cena e notte a casa di una famiglia del posto.

Nota: al posto di Barreirinhas il trekking può cominciare da Atins. In quel caso la partenza è alle 7:00. Conferma la logistica quando prenoti.

Giorno 2

Baixa Grande / Queimada dos Britos

Colazione presto alle 4:30 e partenza a piedi alle 5:00. I 12 km che separano le due oasi attraversano lunghi tratti di dune aperte e il filo d’acqua del Rio Negro. L’alba vista da dentro il campo di dune è il momento più fotografato dell’intera traversata.

Le soste in laguna spezzano il cammino: ci si tuffa, si riempiono le borracce, si sta un po’ all’ombra. L’arrivo a Queimada dos Britos è previsto verso le 10:30. Dopo il pranzo a casa della famiglia che ospita il gruppo il pomeriggio resta libero, tra amaca, bagno nelle lagune vicine e due passi sulle dune accanto all’oasi. Più tardi, tramonto da un belvedere a due passi dalla comunità.

Giorno 3

Queimada dos Britos / Lagoa do Cajueiro / Santo Amaro

Il terzo giorno è il tratto più lungo. Colazione alle 2:30, partenza alle 3:00 con la frontale accesa. Il primo pezzo attraversa le dune nell’aria fresca della notte e porta il gruppo su un punto alto in tempo per l’alba.

Il percorso di 12–14 km prevede diverse soste in laguna, per nuotare e riprendere fiato. L’arrivo alla Lagoa do Cajueiro è previsto verso le 9:00. Da lì un 4×4 accompagna il gruppo a Santo Amaro, dove il viaggio si chiude. Arrivo previsto alle 10:00.

Nota: il trasporto da Santo Amaro a São Luís (transfer privato o furgoni condivisi alle 4:00 e alle 13:00) non è incluso e si organizza a parte.
