The fauna is just as rich, with more than 30 million species of animals, such as toucans, parrots, and macaws, which are easily seen in the treetops, as are amazon river dolphins in the water and monkeys in the branches. Of the 100 species of fish in Latin America, 85 are found in the Amazon, including the Pirarucu, which can reach 3 meters in length.

Itinerary

 

Day 1
The Zaltana crew will welcome you on board for the start of this great adventure. During navigation in Amazonian waters, a meeting will be held, giving instructions, clarifying doubts, and demonstrating practices of minimal impact during the trip.

 

 

Contemplating its water we will visit Encontro das Águas (Meeting of the Waters), where Rio Negro (black waters) and Rio Solimões (brown waters) run side by side for more than 9 km.

 

 

We will enjoy a delicious lunch onboard. In the afternoon, we will go on a speedboat ride to explore Lake Janauari, an ecological Park that has more than 9 thousand hectares, a region full of Amazonian species, such as the water lily, mucuris, bromeliads, orchids, and the famous Sumauma's trees,  as well as the most common fish on the menus of Manaus: tambaqui and pirarucu.

 

 

Still in the afternoon, we will visit the indigenous community, where true treasures of Brazilian cultural diversity are concentrated, to watch a singing and dancing performance. 

 

 

Day 2
Opening the curtain in your room and enjoying nature at any time is an indescribable sensation! We start the day by going on a speedboat ride through Ariaú River to meet the amazon river dolphins, the most beloved character of the Amazon, docile mammals that are at risk of extinction and that are only found in the Amazon. An exciting experience!

 

 

After lunch onboard, contemplate the wonders of the Rio Negro while sailing to the community of Nova Esperança, located on the banks of the Cuieiras River, an ecological cradle that houses several species of animals and centuries-old trees. This will be our opportunity to get to know the local culture, learn about their habits, and exchange knowledge.

 

 

Day 3

Today we say goodbye to 2022, waking up to the sound of birds for another day in Amazonian waters. After breakfast, we'll take a speedboat to explore the islands of Anavilhanas and take a trip to 3 Bocas, a place where the islands' vegetation is reflected in the dark waters, creating a surreal scenery.

 

We will have an abundant lunch aboard before arriving at Novo Airão, the closest city to the Amazon National Parks. An optional stop for a walking tour of the city to visit the local handicraft factory and by afternoon we will take a tour by speedboat to discover some more of the 400 islands of Anavilhanas. 

 

 

At the end of the day, we'll begin preparations for our themed luau with a bonfire on Praia Grande, surrounded by lush Amazonian vegetation. We will enjoy a special New Year's Eve dinner, including fish, shrimp, sparkling wines, and wines, celebrating the new year in style.

 

 

Day 4

Start 2023 immersed in the largest tropical forest on the planet and its exuberant nature. Today we will have all day to explore Praia Grande by speedboat, an extensive stretch of sand that forms at the time of the ebb of the river and relax in its warm waters, and, with luck, interact with the dolphins that appear.

 

 

After returning to the boat from Zaltana, we will have dinner while sailing along the Rio Negro enjoying the colors of the Amazon sunset and the sound of wild animals. A perfect time to relax in the hammocks and feel the peace of being isolated in direct contact with virtually untouched nature.

 

 

 

Day 5
The waters that gave us "welcome" will now give us a "see you soon" and we will leave to Manaus, returning to the starting point of this Amazon River Cruise expedition in Brazil, starting 2023 with the certainty that we started it in the best possible way.

 

 

 

 

We will enjoy a delicious farewell lunch while enjoy navigating through the waters of Rio Negrio, enjoying the last moments of this great adventure.
