Araquem Alcantara
The Lodge
Situated within an environmentally protected area, enveloped by the primary rainforest and located on the banks of the Mamori River, which feeds the lakes that surround the Lodge and provides a diverse array of Amazonian flora and fauna, making for a truly unique and enriching experience for visitors. The Lodge is entirely built with regional architecture, which respects the design of the riverside caboclo dwellings and maintains harmony with the surrounding environment. The initial bungalows are designed to resemble the homes of the nearby communities, using wood, polished floors, balconies with hammocks, and generously sized screened window that provides stunning views of the lake.
The outdoor area of our establishment features a variety of facilities for our guests to enjoy, including a restaurant, a TV lounge, a round room for relaxation, a bar, and a games room. We also have a floating structure that supports all of the adventurous activities, such as stand-up paddleboarding, kayaking, and hiking trails. The property boasts ample green space for guests to admire and appreciate.
Accommodations
The lodging establishment offers a total of 21 UHS (housing units) that are categorized into three distinct accommodation types. The first type is the rustic Wooden Bungalows, which come equipped with both single and double beds and offer an enchanting view of the lake. The second type is the Masonry Chalet, which provides spacious rooms with air conditioning, electrical outlets, and private bathrooms. Lastly, we have the Superior Bungalow, which we only have three of. One of these is located in a private area, which we have named Bungalow Honeymoon. All Superior Bungalows feature an electric shower, a minibar, and a private balcony.
Day by day
Day 1 - Meeting the Mamori River and Tracajá Lake
Our adventure begins with a departure from Manaus, where we will journey to our lodge. On the way, we will make our first stop at the Meeting of the Waters, where the dark waters of the Rio Negro meet with the sandy-colored waters of the Solimões River, creating an incredible natural phenomenon that is not to be missed.
The journey from Manaus to the lodge is just the first part of the adventure, and we can assure you that you will witness a variety of ecosystems, natural wonders, and typical scenery of the local people. Along the way, guests can spot various bird species, such as stilts that embellish the road's edges, families traveling in small boats along the rivers, and fishermen patiently waiting for the perfect moment to catch their daily food.
The scheduled arrival at the Lodge is around 12:00 pm, there will be served a delicious lunch buffet featuring a variety of options to suit all tastes. The buffet includes freshwater fish, beef, chicken, salads, and a selection of exotic fruits sourced from the Amazon region. Following lunch, guests will have the opportunity to embark on a motorized canoe trip that will introduce them to the surrounding area. Throughout the journey, visitors will be immersed in the pristine and diverse landscapes of the region and will have the opportunity to observe and enjoy the great variety of animals that call this area home. At 7:30 p.m., dinner will be served in the lodge's restaurant.
Day 2 - Ecotourism, Ecological Trails, and Amazon Contemplation
The adventure begins at 5:30 AM with a sunrise birdwatching tour, providing a wonderful opportunity to experience the Amazon awakening with the sun. Afterward, we return to the Lodge for breakfast. At 8:30 AM, we embark on a jungle trek led by our experienced guides, where you will learn survival tactics, such as how to use vines as ropes and climb trees, as well as how to find water and food. Along the way, you will learn about the rich fauna and biodiversity of the Amazon.
We break for lunch at 12:00 p.m. and afterward, we take a peaceful canoe ride with oars to observe more wildlife such as sloths and monkeys. Returning to the Lodge, we have dinner at 7:30 p.m. Afterwards, you have the opportunity to witness the beautiful moonlight and listen to the sounds of the nocturnal creatures in the jungle.
Day 3 - Local Communities and Culture
After breakfast, you will depart from the lodge with your English-speaking guide to visit a local's home and gain insight into their way of life in the Amazon. You will have the opportunity to learn about their culture, customs, and traditions. On the return journey to the lodge, you will visit a cassava and rubber plantation where locals will demonstrate how they collect vegetables, fruits, nuts, and spices. You will also have the chance to taste some of these exotic products.
After lunch, we will go back to the river to catch the famous piranha. This excursion is enjoyable even for beginners and provides an excellent opportunity to appreciate the surrounding landscape. Dinner will be served at 7:30 p.m. After dinner, you will embark on an exciting night excursion to observe caimans. Everyone will try to spot one, and the guides will catch one with their bare hands for memorable photos. At the end of the excursion, the caiman will be safely released back into the wild.
Day 4 - Canoe Trip, Dolphins, and Back to Manaus
On the final day of our journey, we will enjoy breakfast at 7:00 a.m. before embarking on a peaceful canoe ride to observe the Amazon pink and grey dolphins, the most adorable animals of the Amazon, friendly mammals which are a symbol of this environment. While paddling, you will hear the sounds of the jungle and learn about the lives of people known as ribeirinhos or caboclo’s.

Customer Reviews
The service was excellent
We are just happy about our indescribably beautiful stay at this Amazon Lodge. The hospitality is nothing short of warm. The “service” was excellent, and everything you need or want to know is lovingly addressed. It’s just extremely relaxing. If you want to discover a part of the Amazon and are looking for adventure, naturalness, family well-being, and regionality – you will be as happy here as we are.
Just getting there is an experience in itself
Wonderful! We spent four wonderful days! Just getting there is an experience in itself! First by boat crossing the Rio Negro and Rio Solimões. Finally, you end up in a beautiful chalet with good hosts, good food, and a good guide. We had a small random and personal group of 6 (India, Germany, and Tyrol) and we had a great time together. Highly recommended!
Hospitality 10, we felt at home!
We were very well received. The staff is all very attentive without exception. Our guides and the boatman were a 10. They are always looking to offer the best service. Improvement that should be made is to vary the breakfast menu, add tapioca, and other regional products. Rooms need renovation. Our room had a leak. Hospitality 10, we felt at home!
I cannot express how kind the staff is there
The rooms are clean however they do not have bed bug covers over the mattress. The buffet had the most vegetables I have been served on the whole trip so I was happy. They have fish, chicken, and beef dishes every night. I cannot express how kind the staff is there. Everyone wants you to enjoy your stay. If you want to unplug from with world and be in awe of the amazing amazon forest this is the perfect place.
A feeling of really being in the jungle
The huts are separate and away from the restaurant, which gives you a feeling of really being in the jungle. The decor is rustic and very pretty. The only downside is that the water in the shower didn’t get hot. On rainy nights, it got a little cold and showering was difficult. But okay, I managed to survive the cold shower because the other days were hot. The bed was comfortable and the room was beautiful, facing the river. The room is very large and spacious. Animals can enter the room at any time, so be aware when opening the door and always keep it closed. The highlight is the tours. It’s a good immersion in the local culture and life in the jungle. Our guide is very kind, and patient and has a great knowledge of the forest. It really is a learning experience!
They do everything to exceed your expectations
A unique experience, accompanied by the guide and the pilot of the speedboat, they made the experience unforgettable, they are kind, understand the “striking”, and will do everything to exceed your expectations. The entire Lodge team makes us feel at home.
Definitely a must-do in Brazil!
We had the most amazing time at the lodge last month. Our family of 5 loved the whole experience from pickup to drop off. We experienced the Amazon, the wildlife, the food, the plants, and the culture. From holding sloths to seeing macaws, watching monkeys, and learning about the natural healing properties of plants and trees we learned so much. Our guide was great and very knowledgeable. Our rooms were super clean and comfortable. We loved the food provided and the lodge grounds were beautiful! We spent time in the hammocks and playing soccer. Definitely a must-do in Brazil!
The lodge attendants were extremely solicitous
We stayed 4 days with 3 friends at this lodge and we were very well received. All the lodge attendants were extremely solicitous and interested in helping. the place is beautiful and very jungle-style, for those looking for an immersion. The food is great, they are very punctual and they gave us a room upgrade when we arrived. They quickly resolved all the problems we had, for example when a frog entered the bathroom or when we asked for mosquito nets for the beds.
You will see all highlights of Amazon
Excellent housing, and some wifi, which lets you really relax. Excellent guides and good food and you will see all highlights of the Amazon. Recommended also with kids. Nice swimming in the Amazon at the lodge itself.
Top-notch team!
Going to the Amazon is, in itself, an incredible experience. With everything going exactly as planned, even better. We went to the lodge on a Monday and left on a Thursday. All transfers were perfect and everyone was attentive. It was our wedding anniversary, and we were given lots of treats and cuddles for the occasion. Top-notch team! The space is very beautiful and the tours are just right, with a break for a rest, perfect timing! It costs to get there, but it’s worth it! Congratulations on the work!
The food was pretty good
This is part of the community and it’s good to be able to interact with the locals. Fishing is fun even if you are not into fishing and the flora and birds are amazing. Don’t expect leopards monkeys etc they avoid contact and they have plenty of room. But you can expect to see plenty of Cayman, lizards, etc. We were in the Honeymoon bungalow which was good and the better rooms do seem to be worth the extra. The food was pretty good but maybe slightly repetitive.
Staff friendly and helpful
Simple accommodation, but that caters well to the less demanding. The food is reasonable. The strength is the staff, friendly and helpful. The guides are all good, according to what we could evaluate.
